Who is Steven? And what is the Bummy Lends a Handy scholarship foundation?

Steven Balderama is a man who there are not enough words to fully describe. He was brash, he was an asshole, he was so loving, but when he was most of all was very giving. Steven and his wife Ashley opened up South Bay Strength Company in 2018 and it has been a constant battle between them….with Steven, wanting to give everything away for free and Ashley wanting to run a business. Steven passed away in June 2023.

Ashley wants his passing to have meaning and to bring importance to the Strength community. With that being said, she has started the scholarship foundation to pay for one year‘s gym membership anywhere in the country if you are chosen based on the application. The application is in true Steven style, and it is a series of ridiculous questions that must be answered with care and thought.
